As our climate gets warmer it's also becoming more unpredictable. This report uncovers how natural disasters and extreme weather may have their root not in the skies, but in our oceans.
Scientists predict it will be a difficult few decades. Rising ocean temperatures speed up Arctic melting and intensify jet streams, causing extreme weather to spread across the globe. "It's simple physics", claims Dr Wijffels, who says the water cycle is key to understanding weather systems. Warmer air is moister, which explains why both heat waves and storms are becoming more frequent. Put simply: The warmer the world, the wilder it gets.
