(23 Jan 2022) Protesters destroyed part of a police barrier and attacked a group of officers at a demonstration against COVID-19 vaccinations and restrictions in Brussels on Sunday.
Protesters could be seen throwing small objects at the police and one hurled a fence at the officers.
Seconds later, a police van sprayed two powerful streams of water at the demonstrators in an attempt to disperse them.
The demonstrators had marched through the capital, before gathering in Cinquantenaire Park in the city's European quarter where they expressed their opposition to the government's virus policies.
Sunday's march followed demonstrations in other European capitals on Saturday that also drew thousands of people protesting vaccine passports and other requirements that European governments have imposed in hopes of ending the coronavirus pandemic.
