The entire startup ecosystem has its rhythm set by fundraising rounds. Fundraising’s basically the startup metronome. But these days, things are getting complicated. Startup revenues are declining, some are running out of cash, and fundraising is less & less of an option.
But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to raise. You need to handle your cash differently and target VCs appropriately. Let’s take some time to understand what you can expect from VCs today & what they expect from you.
In her keynote presentation, Amrita Sarkar, Senior Venture Capital Business Development Manager for AWS France, highlighted survival strategies for startup founders during uncertain times. Drawing inspiration from historical events, she focused on the common attributes of entrepreneurs who emerge victorious – frugality, ruthless prioritization and a penchant for solving hard problems.
In the second half of her session, she interviewed Bartosz Jakubowski, Principal at Alven, to get his perspective on the current investment climate and his advice to early-stage founders.
