If you've tried the jumpstart method and still have a dead battery, give this a try! It brought a totally dead battery back to life for me!
My issue was a popped CID (Current Interrupt Device) safety device. Manually resetting it allowed the battery to return to service.
Now that I know about this fix I wouldn't remove the cell which would turn this into a 2 min fix. You can check & reset the CIDs without removing the cells - you just have to open up the plastic case.
