The middle dermis is in charge of sustaining and strengthening the skin. It nourishes the epidermis and helps to keep the skin hydrated. The body's innermost subcutaneous tissue protects it against external forces and temperature fluctuations. It connects the skin to the interior organs and gives the body its curved shape.
