Avoiding cover lifts and disassembly of gas turbines to obtain temperature data could have a significant cost saving benefit, and can potentially accelerate development times. In an age of the energy transition the delivery speed could be crucial.
In late 2022 SCS finished the project STREAM co-funded by Innovate UK, which involved working alongside Queen Mary University of London (Professor Kaspar Althoefer Kaspar Althoefer), developing a robotic capability for in-situ measurements additionally to the existing thermal mapping system SCS developed over the last 10 years.
