Russia on Friday (6/3) condemned western calls for direct intervention in the crisis in Yugoslavia's flashpoint Kosovo province and threats of sanctions against Belgrade.

SOT (in Russian) with Primakov, saying: "Recently there have been two very important events - that's the Founding Agreement which we signed with NATO."

SOT Primakov continues: "And now in November and February it's there's the resolution of the problem around Iraq."

SOT (in English) with spokesman Gennady Tarasov, saying: "The Russian position is very clear. We are for dialogue because we think that dialogue between the federal authorities and the leaders of the Albanians in Kosovo is the best way to resolve the existing problems."

SOT Tarasov continues: "This solution of existing problems must be found within the principle of the segregational integrity of Yugoslavia."

SOT Tarasov continues: "The situation is pretty much tense as we understand and of course the international community is concerned about that. There are plans to discuss the matter in the Contact Group. Now the contacts are underway to establish the exact date of this meeting, which will probably be held in London."
