Embedding a Chromium-based browser into MPS by Alexander Pann from itemis

MPS is limited in embedding external content, especially web-based content. While it is possible to bring MPS to the web, this demo showcases how web browsers can be embedded in MPS through Java Chromium Embedded Framework (JCEF). Chromium is the primary codebase that powers browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. JCEF is included in the JetBrains Runtime Environment (JBR), which MPS uses as the Java runtime environment. You will see how you can include JCEF in MPS and what challenges you will face. The implemented web application uses JointJS, a JavaScript diagramming library for displaying diagrams while the data is fetched from an MPS model. The communication with the browser is bidirectional and possible via internal JavaScript communication and WebSockets. The server that handles the WebSocket communication is a Netty server inside MPS that can also communicate with applications outside MPS (such as locally running web applications).
