Adar Poonawalla On Oxford-AstraZeneca & The Blood Clot Controversy | Barkha Dutt
Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla in an exclusive conversation with Barkha Dutt said that "the WHO and UK MHRA says there's no connection between the blot clots that are reported and the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine". "India has said there's no connection. Many countries suspended the rollout temporarily for certain age groups and then they reinstated after seeing more data. Let the investigation conclude", Poonawalla said. "But I think this could just be a way for countries to buy time to explain their delays in vaccination."
Poonawalla's statements come as UK Regulators say the blood clots is a "rare side effect" but nevertheless have suggested that those under 30 be given the choice of another vaccine "where possible"
