My Top 5 New Items for Camping and Jeep Rides
In this video I’m sharing my top five items we have started using that have made our camping and day trips more convenient and enjoyable. We started out Jeeping in a 1986 CJ7 and through the years we have modified and improved our set up. I think we have found value from the addition of these items, and I think they are worth sharing. If you like Jeep rides and Jeep camping or overlanding, I think this video may help you choose items that you may want to add to your set up.
Number one on the list, is a downloadable map. I use the Gaia map app on my phone. It allows me to research and download maps when I have cell service. Once I’m off-grid, I can use the downloaded map to aide in exploring and mark spots for future reference.
Second, is our Moon Shade portable awning. Admittedly, we have only used it once while camping on Padre Island National Seashore. It worked flawlessly on that trip and I can see other applications where we could us it in the future. It is extremely compact, portable and well made.
Third, is soft boxes for storage and organization. I have the Kelty Window Seat which is a twelve by twelve by fifteen-inch soft box with a see-through lid. We put our bread, chips, snacks, paper towels and anything we need for a day trip inside and throw it in the back of the Jeep. It is water resistant and keeps the dust out while driving on the dusty forest service roads and is very quiet.
Number Four is our twelve-volt fridge. I was reluctant to buy a fridge for years. I found it hard to justify the expense of a one-thousand-dollar refrigerator for camping. While planning our trip to Padre Island, I found a few more affordable options and decided to purchase the Costway 42-quart model. I think a will always have a fridge from now on. I really love the convenience and not having to deal with ice and water.
Lastly, is the tailgate table. This is another item I researched a lot. The Outback Adventures Tailgater stood out among the ones that I researched. I really like the way it folds flat, taking up very little space when not in use. Its super easy to fold up and down. What I really like is the fact that you don’t have to pack it, it's already loaded and always ready for use. The stainless-steel surface is durable and easy to clean.
I hope this video helps you outfit your rig for adventures. I have left links to reviews of the items discussed below. If you have any questions, feel free to comment. Happy Trails.
