What is the Atomic Packing Factor? How to calculate the Atomic Packing Factor for face-centered cubic (FCC) and body-centered cubic (BCC) crystal structure.
Atomic Packing Factor shows us that how closely the atoms are packed together in a unit cell. It is a dimenssionaless quantity and is always less than unity. In this video we have measured the atomic packing factor for an FCC and BCC unit cell. Their are 2 atoms in the unit cell of BCC crystall structure while in an FCC crystal structure thier are 4 atoms. using the general equation of atomic packing factor we have calculated teh APF for FCC and BCC struture.
