"Mortified" Princess Kate shares Michael Middleton's amusing 2-word Wimbledon gaffe
Princess Kate was reportedly embarrassed by her father Michael at Wimbledon, despite the Middletons and the Royal Family being frequent attendees. Like the Royal Family, Princess Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton are avid tennis fans, and they have already been spotted at Wimbledon this year. Kate has already gone with her family; Pippa and James, her siblings, are also visible watching a game from the Royal Box. But in a very embarrassing incident back in 2017, Kate disclosed that Michael had misidentified one of the most well-known athletes in the UK with just two words. In the Sue Barker-hosted BBC documentary Our Wimbledon, she discussed it as follows: "My father won't like this, but we were passing Tim Henman and we had just watched [Pete] Sampras play. With a casual demeanour, my dad said, "Hi Pete." I felt ashamed." Pete Sampras, an American former No. 1 tennis player, won seven Wimbledon titles, while Tim Henman, a British former professional, never managed to win in the tournament.
