Last Tuesday, (August 30th, 2016), Patrol K9 Eko officially retired from a stellar career as a working dog. Eko joined the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department in 2009. For the duration of his career, he was assigned to K9 Patrol Deputy Jenkins. For years, Deputy Jenkins and Eko worked as a team responding to calls, to keep the residents of Sacramento County safe. Eko was fond of getting belly rubs from the many residents he met while attending community events. For the last five years, Eko has also been the go-to dog for Special Enforcement Detail (SED) callouts. Eko was replaced by K9 Jetta, who has some big shoes to fill with Eko's departure. In his retirement, Eko will be the full-time family pet to Deputy Jenkins and his family, and will have plenty of time to enjoy his favorite activity, getting bubble baths.
