Mulberry, also known as mulberry (lat. Morus), is a genus of perennial deciduous trees and shrubs from the family of the same name (Moraceae). This genus includes several species. The largest number of species originates from Asia. Plants are monoecious or dioecious. The leaves are simple, alternately arranged. The flowers are unisexual, collected in dense fringes. The fruits are tightly glued together on a common axis and fused together, thus making the fruits of the inflorescence (mulberries, mulberries) - edible. White and black mulberry are mostly grown in Serbia, and red (pink) mulberry is also represented. In addition to food and for the production of brandy (mulberry), the white mulberry leaf is also used as food for silkworm larvae. Ripe mulberry fruits are edible and widely used fresh, especially for sweet dishes, such as pies, cakes, and maybe for sweet wines. Black mulberry fruit and red mulberry have the strongest taste. They have a large amount of anthocyanin antioxidants. Experts claim that mulberry deserves to be included in the superfood, because it prevents the aging of the body and helps with many diseases. Fruits, leaves and bark are used in treatment.
