Jack Skellington would like to understand Christmas and is looking for a way to describe it logically. He conducts a series of experiments using the scientific method to improve his understanding of Christmas.
This clip can be used to teach about the scientific method in science classrooms. Jack performs several steps in the scientific method:
1. Making observations: Jack studies the artifacts he collected from Christmas Land by looking at them through a microscope, testing them in chemical reactions, and in the case of the teddy bear, dissecting them.
2. Asking questions: Jack questions the meaning of the green glow when he mixes the ornament in his formula.
3. Forming a hypothesis: Jack condenses what he's learned into a formula for Christmas. This is evident when he writes the formula on the chalkboard.
