As part of a group project I did for my MEng, I built a basic brain-controlled robot. I used the Mindwave Mobile combined with LabVIEW to implement control.
The control for stopping and starting motion is the "attention" value from the headset, which relates to how strongly you focus on an object. In order to switch directions, I used rudimentary blink detection. This video is just a quick demonstration of the blink detection.
