Black-bellied Bustard (Lissotis melanogaster) Bird Call Video | Korhaans/Bustards
The Black-bellied Bustard (Lissotis melanogaster), sometimes referred to as the Champagne Bird, is a species of Korhaan that belongs to the Bustard family. Although not as impressive as it's cousin, the Kori Bustard, The Black-bellied Bustard/Korhaan is a ground bird often encountered in the grasslands and savanna of the central Kruger National Park.
The Black-bellied Bustard can stand almost 70 centimeters tall and is omnivorous, feeding mainly on invertebrates and insects, occasionally eating fruits and seeds. They prefer grasslands that have a high rainfall. They make a strange sound and in this short clip you can hear the Black-bellied Bustard bird call, filmed in the Satara region of the Kruger.
