🚇Did you know Mexico City has women and children only sections on trains and buses to combat groping and sexual harassment? The Metro Station signage is pink and seats on buses are pink. Public transit gets crowded, we’re squished together, and folks are weird. There is a police presence throughout the Metro and that’s good to see.
While riding the train a man sat next to an unknown lady and leered the entire ride. It was very uncomfortable and the reason why Women-only sections are necessary. It’s comforting to have a safe space for us to ride without fear of being groped, catcalled, or sexually harassed. We need this implemented in the USA.
I applaud Mexico City for implementing preventative measures to combat violence against women and keep us safe 👏🏽.
