"Since May 14th the Indians have intensified indiscriminate and unprovoked shelling on innocent civilians all along the Line of Control and the working boundary causing innumerable losses to human lives, property and animals. All across the Line of Control there have been more than 20 'shahid who embrace shahaadad' (died) and 20 civilians - they got injured."

STORYLINE:
Although India and Pakistan appeared to be pulling back from the brink of war, their armies resumed shelling across the disputed Kashmir frontier on Monday, claiming at least three lives.
The Pakistani military says the situation along the cease-fire line that divides the Himalayan province between the nuclear-armed rivals remains volatile despite the easing of tensions.
At the Chakothi sector, about 60 kilometers (40 miles) southeast of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-ruled Kashmir, both armies still remained "eyeball to eyeball", according to unit commander Brigadier Iftikhar Ali Khan.
He added that there has been no infiltration into Indian-controlled Kashmir from the Chakothi sector and that UN observers were welcome to come and confirm this.
India and Pakistan mobilised nearly 1 million (m) soldiers along their border after a December 13 attack on the Indian Parliament by suspected Islamic militants put the two countries on the brink of their fourth war in five decades.
Intensive diplomatic efforts by the US, Russia and Britain appear, however, to have helped ease tensions in South Asia.
India announced on Monday that it was restoring air space rights for Pakistani aircraft over Indian territory, coinciding with the visit of US Defense Secretary Ronald Rumsfeld to the region later this week.
