Tiffany Haddish was born on December 3, 1979, in Los Angeles, California. Raised in South Central Los Angeles, Tiffany's early life was marked by hardship and struggle. Her father, an Eritrean refugee, left the family when Tiffany was very young, leaving her mother to raise Tiffany and her siblings. In 1988, tragedy struck when Tiffany's mother suffered severe brain damage in a car accident, drastically changing her personality and ability to care for her children.
As a result, Tiffany and her siblings were placed into foster care, a period that Tiffany has described as incredibly difficult and isolating. She often found herself moving from home to home, and it was during these tough times that she began to use humor as a coping mechanism. Comedy became her way of dealing with the pain and uncertainty in her life.
