BreastCancerAnswers.com, the first social media show, hit 6.3 million video views in less than twelve months of its launch in late 2011. The online format allows patients and advocates to "suggest an interview topic", which medical experts use when creating their next video.
The social media show utilizes each of the dominant social networks to allow patients all over the globe to access the latest information from leading doctors. The website features 630+ video clips from experts answering commonly asked questions about breast cancer. 94 percent of the online audience falls within 35-64 years of age, the breast cancer age window. In addition, 61 percent of viewers are women and 39 percent are men, who may be looking to help a loved one battling the disease.
In year one, BreastCancerAnswers exceeded its audience projections by fifteen times. A highlight for the first year of the campaign was when Google promoted BreastCancerAnswers.com in a newsletter to their email database.
