Universities are racing to offer their students up-to-date education in AI skills. At Tunghai University in Taichung, a new generative AI classroom will be the site of lessons for new students this September. It’s fitted with state-of-the-art notebook computers and generative AI software. Professors think it will serve students of languages, illustration, and architecture, among other fields. The classroom is also available for business hire, potentially serving industries such as aerospace.
A student types keywords into the program, and in a few seconds, it has produced a whole range of potential images of dogs and aliens. None of them show any traces of being composites of other pictures.
Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that can create new ideas and content including images and videos. When you have a light and portable notebook, you can do this kind of work anywhere, which makes it a very efficient and mobile way to work.

A graduate of Tunghai University has donated their alma mater 60 brand-new notebooks installed with generative AI software. They’re installed in the university library basement as a new AI notebook classroom. The new students arriving in September will have a mandatory class here.

It will be applicable for students of foreign languages in literature studies, or other relevant studies, as well as things like illustration, landscaping and architecture.
When the classroom is empty, it’s also available for companies and official agencies to use for on-the-job training.

We’ve connected with external companies like Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. They plan to use generative AI in their maintenance and repair work.
It’s a small space with potential huge uses. The new AI education platform at Tunghai University aims to provide up-to-date digital education for students, professionals and the talent of tomorrow.
