La dépression (ou trouble dépressif) est une maladie psychique fréquente qui par ses troubles de l'humeur, perturbe fortement la vie quotidienne. De nombreux facteurs psychologiques, biologiques et environnementaux sont en cause dans sa survenue.
Qu’est-ce que la dépression ?
La dépression appelée dans le langage courant "dépression nerveuse" ne désigne pas un simple coup de déprime ou une tristesse passagère mais une véritable maladie psychique.
Elle se caractérise par des perturbations de l'humeur (tristesse, perte de plaisir). L'humeur dépressive entraîne une vision pessimiste du monde et de soi-même. Elle dure plus de deux semaines et retentit de manière importante sur la vie quotidienne (perte du sommeil, troubles de l'appétit et du désir sexuel, perte des performances intellectuelles, isolement...)
La volonté seule ne permet pas de s'en sortir. C'est pourquoi elle doit être soignée pour ne pas se compliquer ou devenir chronique.
