"Take Courage My Soul (The Storm is Passing Over)" was written by Charles Albert Tindle, published in 1905. He was the largely self-educated son of an enslaved father and a free mother who became a Methodist minister, captivating preacher and hymn writer.
The tune was also written by Tindle but did not gain much popularity until it was arranged by Donald Vails for gospel choir.
It is performed here by the choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn.
