NEWS DESK | Unknown actors are already meddling in Israel’s elections, trying to trick journalists into reporting fake news. The technique is to set up a fake Twitter account, and give journalists tip-offs that turn out to be sophisticated hoaxes. Our Eylon Levy nearly fell victim to such a scam.
Story:
'Normally when there’s a juicy article people don’t look at the details but they don’t see it’s chicagotribune.co … Now we build the article… We made it look like it’s a press release. Everything around the article is real except the domain is .or, not .org,' Sharel Omer, CEO at Communit360.com explained.
'We see more and more fake accounts and bot networks every day. They keep getting more sophisticated,' he continued.
Communit360 is working to defend Israel from fake news attacks. So be careful about what you share, because it could be a hoax.
