Exercise "Vigilant Skies 2013" was held from 23 to 27 September 2013. The objective was to test in real time the network procedures and capabilities of the Cooperative Airspace Initiative (CAI) in the framework of the NATO-Russia Council. The CAI project is intended to promote cooperation in the monitoring of airspace and coordination of air traffic between Russia and NATO nations when dealing with a common threat in the air.
