Lemon Mbuna Cichlid (Labidochromis caeruleus) also called the Yellow Prince Cichlid or Electric Yellow Labidochromis.

Distribution: Endemic to Lake Malawi of East Africa. In the wild, the yellow colour variant is found on Lion’s cove and several other areas.

Habitat: Rocky area with sandy bottom and a lot of hiding places is the natural habitat of it.

Characteristic: Almost all of the Lemon Mbuna Cichlid that exist in the aquarium trade now are tank-bred. Peaceful character compared to other Lake Malawi cichlid makes it one of the easiest Mbuna species to maintain. It often recommended for beginner. Male can reach larger size than females, and will become aggressive when in mating period. Male also have more intense black coloration on the dorsal fin.

Diet: Lemon Mbuna Cichlid basically will accept almost all kind of food since they are omnivorous but they also need enough amount of vegetable in its diet. Floating pellets that fit into its mouth, frozen bloodworm and shrimps with vegetables in alternate day will keep it happy.

Suitable tank mates: All kind of Malawi Lake Cichlids, large Rainbowfish, Plecos and Angelfish.
Unsuitable tank mates: Small Tetras, Zebra Danio, Invertebrates and gouramis.
