It narrates the tale of her family, who reside in Frankfurt, Germany, and who are abruptly forced into hiding due to how the Nazi Party and Hitler treated Jews in Europe during the Second World War. They manage to flee to Amsterdam, where they hide out with other Jews. The journal abruptly stops on August 1st, 1944.
📗Who was Anne Frank?
German-born Jewish Holocaust victim Anne Frank is well-known for keeping a journal of her experiences. For two years, Anne and her family hid from the Nazis to avoid persecution. The Diary of a Young Girl now contains her documentation of this her.
On June 12, 1929, Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Edith and Otto Frank were her parents. Anne spent her first five years of life in an apartment on the outskirts of Frankfurt with her parents and older sister, Margot. Otto Frank moved to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where he had links in the business world, when the Nazis took over in 1933. The remainder of the Frank family arrived shortly after, with Anne arriving last in February 1934 after spending time with her grandparents in Aachen.
📗What Happened to Anne Frank and Her Family?
🧧The Nazi SS and police found the hiding site on August 4, 1944. It has long been believed that the police took action after receiving a tip from an unidentified Netherlands caller. A more recent idea, however, contends that the Germans stumbled found the hiding location when looking into rumors of illicit employment and ration ticket fraud at the residence.
🧧The Franks were detained that day by an SS Sergeant named Karl Silberbauer and two Dutch police officers. The family was detained by the Gestapo on August 8 and taken to the Westerbork transit camp See This Keyword in the Dictionary. The Franks and the four other people sheltering with them were put on a rail transfer to Auschwitz-Birkenau in German-occupied Poland one month later, on September 3, 1944. From Westerbork to Auschwitz, this was the final trip.
With 1,019 Jews on board, the convoy landed in Auschwitz two days later.
🧧The genders were divided. The occupants of the Hidden Annex were all chosen for forced labor.
The ladies taken from this convoy, including Anne, Edith, and Margot, were tattooed with prisoner numbers like other Jews chosen for work. Documents revealing their exact numbers have not been preserved. Although Anne Frank's death certificate lists the camps she visited, it also omits her tattoo ID number.
🧧Early in November 1944, Anne and her sister Margot were moved to the Bergen-Belsen detention camp in northern Germany.
