Spanish bread
This bread is one of the classic bread in the Philippines. It is the favorite merienda or afternoon snack of the Filipinos because every local bakeries sell these breads. Spanish bread is a bit similar to pandesal, because the rolled dough is coated with fine bread crumbs too. But unlike the classic pandesal, Spanish bread has a buttery filling and the shape is like a cylinder. So if you miss eating Spanish bread you can make it at home. And do not worry if you do not have an oven because we can make it without an oven.
Dough:
2 1/8 cups all purpose flour
3 tbsp white sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp instant dry yeast
1/2 cup evaporated milk
3 tbsp cooking oil
1 egg
Filling:
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup margarine, softened at room temp.
coating:
1 cup bread crumbs(more if needed)
