STORYLINE
The footage horrified the world: a grinning Ratko Mladic patting a young Muslim boy on the head and assuring him and other children they would be safe - just hours before allegedly overseeing the murder of 8,000 men in nearby Srebrenica.
The boy in the video is now a 24-year-old man.
And he recalls with crystal clarity the sunny day he met the former Bosnian-Serb military commander who gave him chocolate, and who now faces trial at a UN tribunal in The Hague on genocide charges.
"I remember that I got a chocolate bar," Izudin recalls, pointing at himself in a video of the scene.
"I went there together with other children and I took that chocolate bar from Ratko Mladic," he told The Associated Press in an exclusive interview.
As he and his mother flipped through a photo album with pictures of them a happy family in the garden in front of their house, Fatima Alic also recalled that chilling day in 1995.
In the infamous footage, Izudin, eight at the time, lied about his age, telling Mladic he was 12.
