The Fresnel lens is a magnifying lens that concentrates the energy from the Sun to make fire. It is a great tool to conserve resources, such as char cloth, ferro rod, or a Bic lighter. As long as the Sun is shining and tinders are dry you are in business. The lens packs easily in any fire kit, or as EDC in your wallet. Many tinders can be lit directly with practice.
