This recipe is pretty simple, and will make British style fish and chips that we get here in the UK.
I use cod, as it’s easy to get here. Any white fish will work.
Most recipes on YouTube massively over complicate things and try to make a ‘fancy’ dish out of what’s in reality a simple plate of food (only each element works perfectly).
You don’t need to cook your chips 3+ times, or place them in the freezer after part-cooking etc like other videos I’ve seen. No fish & chip shop ever does that.
HOW TO:
Boil your chips for 5 minutes and let cool
Fry those chips until they are done
Make batter out of equal parts beer/cider and flour
Dip your fish in the batter, and fry.
Serve with tartar sauce if you like, or without.
