Apple has made it possible to update the firmware on your MagSafe battery pack. Typically firmware updates only fix reliability and bugs but with the most recent firmware, Apple increased the charging rate to 7.5W from 5W. Here is how you can check your firmware and how to update -- whether to get the new faster charging or anything updates in the future.
