Small Game Hunting is a great way for beginners to become accustomed to handling firearms as well as an effective method to control local vermin. However, this form of hunting does have its risks and should never be underestimated as accidental shootings and ricochet injuries are 10.5x higher than any other NZ hunting type.
This video is the fifth in a series of videos exploring insights from ‘A Hunter’s Tale’, where 42% of firearm-related injuries were caused by air-rifles, 35% by rim-fire and 23% by shotguns in this hunting type. Safe handling of firearms is essential at all times, especially when hunting with a beginner. Avoid alcohol and drugs and always get permission before hunting on private land.
Our insights and safety messages can be viewed as the hunt progresses and is ideally shared with NZ hunters – so please share with any that you know.
