Challenges for early and accurate diagnosis in oncology and the need for integrative and collaborative approaches

The coronavirus pandemic has caused unprecedented societal turmoil, triggering a rapid, and still ongoing, transformation of healthcare provision on a global level. The pandemic has also significantly altered the way cancer patients are being diagnosed and treated. In this new landscape, it is very important to acknowledge the challenges this pandemic poses on early and accurate diagnosis in oncology, and to present how integrative and collaborative approaches could solve these issues in both high income and low-middle income settings.
The Dialogue explored and discussed: (i) how the clinical diagnostic testing ecosystem is challenged, (ii) the hurdles along the patient diagnostic testing pathway, and (iii) integrative and collaborative solutions, taking particularly into consideration the context and perspective of low and middle income settings.
