Vi and Powder and co break into just some random person’s apartment for all we know. We don’t yet realize that this Piltover apartment belongs to another main character we’re not going to meet for until episode 2. So all these little facts we assume are just to introduce us in a GENERAL way to Piltover society: they’re scientists, they’re rich, everything’s pretty and expensive, and this contrasts with our poor gang of sump rats. And then suddenly, we get Jayce! And all this information adheres to this new character: Jayce is a rich but careless scientist with fancy expensive stuff who has this whole arc we already understand about this dangerous invention he was working on. We meet Jayce and get to bypass all this setup that would otherwise go right here because we already did it ahead of time, we know this apartment owner very well, we know his personality, we even know his arc.
