On March 25, 1958, British Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, began their State Visit to Rotterdam, (Holland) The Netherlands. This was the first official visit by a reigning British monarch to The Netherlands. The visits included three tiara occasions and multiple occasions with the Dutch Royal Family such as a State Banquet in Amsterdam in honor of the Queen, a Banquet and Ball at the Ridderzaal in The Hague, dinner on the Royal Yacht Britannia, and a visit to Asscher’s in Amsterdam (where the original Cullinan Diamond - 1.37 pounds - was cut). Attendees during the entire State Visit included Queen Juliana of The Netherlands, Prince Bernhard, Crown Princess Beatrix, Princess Irene, and Mary, Duchess of Devonshire.
