The whitefly is an extremely dangerous pest for cotton. It sucks sap from the leaves, causing them to curl and wilt. The attack is very severe, and its larvae cause significant damage. The whitefly goes through four stages, with the third instar being the most dangerous. It affects the underside of the leaves, leading to the growth of black fungus, which turns the leaves completely black and halts the photosynthesis process. This blockage in the plant's veins causes the plant to wilt and die. It is also a vector of cotton leaf curl virus. It may be controlled at the initial stage of cotton before formation of colonies on the underside of the leaf. Protected spray of insecticides play an important role in mitigating its damage. Use powerful insecticides for control of whitefly adults and nymphs in combination. Always repeat spray to disturb its life cycle after one week gap. In this video I have provided a combination of insecticides for control of the adult and nymph of cotton whitefly. This video will be helpful for growers for the effective management of cotton whitefly. Use always soft chemistry spray at the initial stage to prevent the plant from stress. Avoid excess use of urea fertilizer, use phosphorus and potassium according to your crop needs. Also apply boron and zinc in foliar for proper growth and development of cotton crop. Never repeat the same chemistry insecticides. Dose per acre of insecticides may be increased keeping in view pest pressure. Anti- Stress like amino acids. NPK and biostimulants nutrients can be used with insecticides to mitigate the stress.
