Searching for your next ultimate travel adventure isn´t easy right? Especially if you are looking for a remote paradise like a forgotten island. Just one hour by flight, southwest of Bali, I found a little island called Sumba. During my research, I couldn´t find a lot of information (in English language). Not many videos or Vlogs, no big Instagram hypes, even on Tripadvisor there are still many beautiful places missing. Exactly what I was looking for :)

A little bit of a TRAVEL ITINERARY and some basic information:

I was travelling solo, couldn´t speak the indonesian language and didn´t plan anything before (except the first accomodation). I flew from Bali, Denpasar to Sumba, Waingapu (Capital). There is another small airport called Tambolaka. If you have time, you can take also the boat from Sumbawa or Flores (I think). I rented a motorbike in Waingapu for the whole time (10 days). I just asked on the "airport" for it. It broke down two times within the first two hours after arrival. During this time I already noticed how extremly friendly and helpful the people are. All the information about the places and the things to do, I got from the locals. I drove first through East and than through West Sumba. If you are friendly to the locals, they will be friendly to you which means you are safe all the time. Didn´t have any problems there.

- Pantai Walakiri for Sunset (The most famous spot in Sumba)

- The road from Waingapu to Melolo (A lot of free running horses, landscape like Australia)

- All waterfalls arround Waikabubak (Lapopu, Matayangu, ...)

- Pantai Ratenggaro (In front of the historical village)
- Ratenggaro village (Historical village)
- Bawana beach (Beuatiful beach with the stone tunnel)
- Pantai Watu Malandong
- Pantai Marosi

- The people how helped me to repair my motorbike all the time

- "Wera Beach Resort" (Got so many usefull information about East Sumba and had a really pleasant stay, Nice empty beach with chilling vibes.)

- All the kids, Gabby (And her parents) from the orphanage in Waingapu (Was an unforgetable experience to spending time with you. Sorry that I was really bad in playing volleyball :D)

- "Oro Beach Houses" (Got every information about West Sumba, how to travel, how to behave with the locals, (which types of cigarettes they are smoking, ...) and how it is to live in Sumba, you won´t find any better guide for solo travelling in West Sumba)

- "Sumba Surf Camp" (Basic but really relaxing place with a stunning view of the ocean of West Sumba), if you are surfing, you might be the only one on the wave)

- "Padadita Beach Hotel" (Perfect accomodation to arrive/depart to and from Waingapu)
