(AP) The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has seen Edinburgh's annual celebration of Hogmanay - the last day of the year - go online.
Visual development artist Gary Wilson has teamed up with award-winning poet Jackie Kay to create Fare Well - a three part show which couples a new poem by Kay with Wilson's images, which are brought to life by 150 AI drones traveling at speeds of up to 25mph.
The drone display - which the organizers say is the largest choreographed drone swarm ever seen in the U.K. - was filmed on location in the Scottish Highlands with the resulting footage spliced over iconic images of Scottish landmarks.
The story starts in the Highlands (near Spean Bridge) before moving to the Forth Bridges and finishing in the home of Hogmanay – Edinburgh.
Fare Well is narrated by numerous actors and members of the public, including David Tennant ("Doctor Who"), Siobhan Redmond ("Holby City," "Behind the Lines") and Lorne MacFadyen ("Outlaw King," "Grantchester").
Fare Well can be viewed online at 1900 GMT on 30 and 31 December at www.edinburghshogmanay.com.
