In the second Nova Covert Ops Mission Pack, the Defenders of Man continued their campaign to discredit Valerian Mengsk by inciting zerg attacks on innocent worlds. Nova was able to thwart their plan on Tyrador IX and saved many lives. Through an unlikely pact with Alarak, Nova gained access to a large source of terrazine that aided in the recovery of her lost memories and the location of her last mission: Antiga Prime. There, she discovered the truth: the Defenders of Man manipulated Nova, using her to incite zerg attacks against civilians. Nova was also able to remember the leader of the Defenders of Man: General Carolina Davis.

Nova’s first mission is to find and capture General Davis. Nova and her forces will need to infiltrate Davis’s high security compound and deal with her loyal troops. Fortunately, you’ll have access to all of the gear and weaponry you’ve acquired in the first two Mission Packs. The level is designed to allow multiple paths to success, so take advantage and find the load-out that suits your style.

Nova will have access to new technology to aid her in the fight ahead. You’ll have the army upgrades from the previous missions plus new enhancements including an upgrade that allows your Battlecruisers to attack multiple enemies at once. She’ll also have new weapons to unlock, such as a deadly plasma rifle that melts her targets into a pool of ooze.

Overview
A bundle can be pre-ordered that grants the purchaser access to all 9 missions through a single payment. Each mission pack can be purchased separately, but only the bundle is available for pre-purchase. Each mission pack will be $7.49 USD, while the pre-purchase option comes to $14.99 USD. Only the StarCraft II Starter Edition is required to download the missions.

Those who pre-purchase Nova Covert Ops will receive a unique Nova portrait, as well as a Covert Ops ghost skin. A player can unlock the skin without the pre-purchase after completing all nine missions of the campaign. The Nova portrait is limited to the pre-purchase bundle, and will be gone once the first series of missions launch. Pre-order bonuses will be gifted to the player before the launch of the first mission pack.

"The reign of Emperor Valerian Mengsk is under threat. Along with facing political opposition, several Dominion ghosts have gone missing in action while under his rule. Their trail leads to a secretive Terran group, the Defenders of Man. As Nova Terra, a psionic ghost trained to be the perfect covert operative, you must delve into the conspiracy before it’s too late for the Terran Dominion."

The campaign takes place a few years after the epilogue of Legacy of the Void (post-2508). The Terran Dominion, led by Emperor Valerian Mengsk, is attempting to recover from the civil wars and zerg attacks that have ravaged their civilization.[7] Along with facing political opposition, several Dominion ghosts have gone missing, the trail leading to a secretive terran group called the "Defenders of Man." Nova Terra is assigned to investigate.

The campaign will have cutscenes and voiceovers. The nine missions all connect to each other. Jason Huck has speculated that at the end of each installment, there will be a cliffhanger.

Terran factions such as the Kel-Morian Combine, Umojan Protectorate, and United Earth Directorate will not feature in the game.
