So it isn’t quite “bedroom” volume, but I took a dB reading from about 6-7 feet away at ear level sitting down so the meter was reading about 85 dB as this is the “safe limit” for hearing apparently. This in all actuality is probably much louder than many can do in their home or apartment, but it still illustrates how these amps do at lower volume.
The MT15 (on full power) is with its' matching cab (I figured a 1x12 is appropriate for a lunchbox head) while the others are running through the Mesa 2x12. All amps are running with an OD808 in front as a clean boost (except for the Satan as it doesn’t need one per say). Didn’t spend a ton of time dialing in tones (so don't please don't take the amp tones too seriously that one sounds better than another), just wanted to get examples of what these are like at around at “safe” 85 dB or so.
My take away from this is if you want to play quietly with a tube amp, make sure to get an amp with a master volume control or add one yourself with a volume pedal in the effects loop! As you can see, I BARELY touched the volume on the MT15 or 6505 before it was almost too loud (the results were basically the same with the MT15 on half power mode). With the loop engaged on the Dual Rectifier adding the master volume control (which is at about 9 o' clock since it's hard to see in the video) and the master volume control on the Satan, the range is MUCH less sensitive and more usable.
