Cyrillic alphabet consists of 33 letters, many of which may be unfamiliar to those learning the language for the first time. But don't worry, here I reveal the first 11 letters step-by-step.
How many words can you remember?
1. Алфаві́т = [Alfavі́t] = Alphabet.
2. Абе́тка = [Abе́tka] = Alphabet.
3. Бана́н = [Banа́n] = Banana.
4. Ба́бця = [Bа́btsya] = Grandmother.
5. Вода́ = [Vodа́] = Water.
6. Во́ля = [Vо́lya] = Will.
7. Гіта́ра = [Hitа́ra] = Guitar.
8. Гопа́к = [Hopа́k] = Hopak (dance).
9. Дя́кую = [Dyа́kuyu] = Thanks.
10. Ді́дько = [Dі́d'ko] = Devil (literally: 'shit').
11. Ескімо́ = [Eskimо́] = Eskimo.
12. Евро́па = [Evrо́pa] = Europe.
13. Є = [Ye] = To be (all forms).
14. Є́дність = [Yе́dnist'] = Unity.
15. Життя́ = [Zhyttyа́] = Life.
16. Жи́то = [Zhу́to] = Rye.
17. Земля́ = [Zemlyа́] = Land / Earth / Ground.
18. Пан Зеле́нський = [Pan Zelе́ns'kyy] = Mr. Zelenskyy.
19. Ви = [Vy] = You all (formal).
20. Ми = [My] = We.
*** Be Careful ***
I mark [й] as [j] including all sounds where it is used ([я] = [ja], [ю] = [ju], [є] = [je], [ї] = [ji]) BUT there are vague interpretation standards and sometimes other authors put [й] = [y] notation that works as well. Just in my case, I guard you from confusing [й] = [j] with [и] = [y].
