For several centuries Russian history has been marked by expansionist and aggressive waves and others more cooperative with the West, and in recent years it seems that Russia is again entering a period of expansionism. Finland, a neighboring country of Russia, knows this firsthand because it has already fought several wars for its borders. And the fact that Sweden, a historically neutral country, which refused militaristic alliances for many years and suddenly applied for NATO membership, means that Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine changed geopolitics completely and from suddenly neutrality started to look much more like vulnerability. Finland was part of the Russian empire until 1917, when it became independent. However, Russia has always kept an eye on Finnish internal politics and has almost always tried to influence its destiny.
