Greg Lynn, a former Jetstar commercial airline pilot, was recently found guilty of murdering retiree Carol Clay at a Victorian campsite in March 2020. He was acquitted of murdering her romantic partner and fellow camper Russell Hill. Lynn admitted to disposing of the bodies and burning the campsite, claiming the deaths were accidental. Curiously, he left the bodies in the area from March until November 2020 in order to return to ‘finish the job’. The gruesome tale takes on further twists as we learn of the relationship between the two decedents. Russell Hill had left behind his wife of many years that weekend, to spend time with his girlfriend, Carol Clay. Carol and Russell were childhood sweethearts, but they had explained away their relationship for many years as being first cousins. Hill’s wife only discovered the affair had been continuing after the pair disappeared in March 2020. She visited the home of Carol Clay and found a ‘ripped up Viagra label’, in her husband’s name. Sadly, she would never be able to reconcile this with Russell as she would later find out their remains were found near the campsite. The story told by Greg Lynn was one of an argument, self defence and a series of poor decisions. The jury agreed with at least the last statement. We have the full police interview / confession of the defendant along with insights from witnesses interviewed by Aussie media.
