What Prime Minister Modi said on 21.09.2019 in the meeting with #KashmiriPandits at #Houston USA —
With passionate words that will go down in history he stated, ‘You have suffered a lot. There is a new wind that is now blowing in Kashmir. You, the Kashmiri Pandits and we all, will build a new Kashmir together!’
At the end of the conversation the Pandits sang the Sharada Devi invocation, Namaste Sharda Devi. Honorable Prime Minister joined in at the end with the words, “Om Namo Namah.’ When he was shown an album of messages that were sent by the community especially the painting by a young adult his eyes widened with pleasure and astonishment. Photos with PM Modi will be released early next week.
OVERVIEW BYTES OF THE HOWDY MODI EVENT DTD 22-09-2019
Howdy (How do you do) Modi event - THIRD SURGICAL STRIKE ON PAKISTAN FROM AMERICAN SOIL
The event was organised by the Indian-American community to honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting the United States for a week.
President Trump also received a standing ovation when PM Modi asked the audience to commend his "resolve" in fighting terrorism.
With Trump in audience, Modi takes a mighty swipe at Pakistan
PM Modi targets Pakistan over terror and J&K in Trump’s presence
Energy at NRG reflects increasing synergy between India-USA: PM Modi
‘Woven: The Indian-American Story’ will be held on ‘Shared Dreams, Bright Futures’, reflecting strong Indo-US cultural ties.
"From CEO to commander-in-chief, from boardrooms to the Oval Office, from studios to the global stage… President Trump has left a lasting impact everywhere," Mr Modi said
Donald Trump's presence at the "Howdy, Modi!" event on Sunday was a "watershed moment" in the India-US ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi
"The USA loves India!" Trump said in a succinct tweet after the event. He described as "incredible" the electric atmosphere at the NRG arena in Houston. Earlier in his speech, he described PM Modi as America's "greatest" and "most loyal friend", and said the Prime Minister was doing an exceptional job for India
Around 50,000 people gathered for what Mr Trump called a "profoundly historic event" on Sunday in Houston.
The "Howdy, Modi!" event was billed as one of the largest ever receptions of a foreign leader in the US.
This was exactly the kind of crowd size and energy President Trump loves at his rallies.
Only here the chants were for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Trump was the superstar invited to the party. But the crowd did not disappoint him either and greeted him with chants of "USA!", most heard at Trump rallies.
Modi said Trump told him during their first meeting that India has a “true friend” in the White House, and the US leader’s presence at the event is proof of that. He also said he admired Trump’s “sense of leadership” and taking ties between the two nations to a new level. Trump said he was India's "best friend in the White House ever".
The personal-touch diplomacy with Mr Modi's trademark bear hugs was played to perfection.
Mr Trump also paid tribute to the Indian-American community, telling them "we are truly proud to have you as Americans".
No stranger to nationalist rhetoric himself, Mr Trump compared security at the US-Mexico border to the tensions between India and Pakistan in the tinderbox Kashmir region.
"Both India and US also understand that to keep our communities safe, we must protect our borders," Trump said.
"Article 370 had deprived the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from development and rights. Terrorists and separatists were using it to their advantage. Now the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have the same rights as every Indian," he said.
The move, which came in the form of a presidential order last month, will "end discrimination against women and Dalits", the Prime Minister said.
"Both houses of our parliament discussed the move for hours, and it was telecast live across the world. Even though we don't have majority in the upper house, both the houses cleared the decision with two-thirds majority," he said, adding, "I request you to give a standing ovation to the parliamentarians of India.
The body language between the two leaders argued warmth and affability in consonance with the mutual admiration expressed in their speeches.
The event itself was bipartisan, with representatives from both parties present. House Majority leader Steny Hoyer (Democrat) made it a point to underscore the bipartisan nature of the US relationship with India.
President Donald Trump’s emphasis on a “strong security partnership” and mutual commitment to fight “radical Islamic terror” and safeguard respective borders will have been intently watched and minutely analysed in Beijing and Islamabad.
All in all, coming together in the Lone Star state has proved to be a 'Trump' card for both
