Sign language will soon be South Africa's twelfth official language. While this mother tongue for the deaf has been promoted by the constitution, it had not been enacted as an official language.
This is one of the two Bills before Parliament's Justice Portfolio Committee as it prepares to finalise the Eighteenth Amendment Bill of the Constitution.
