Tom Sachs is the internationally-acclaimed contemporary artist famous for his iconic and subversive works such as Space Program: Mars, and Barbie Slave Ship.
Forbes 30 Under 30 headliner Carter Cleveland is the CEO of Artsy, a startup he founded in his Princeton dorm room before raising $26 million dollars from investors like Peter Thiel, Eric Schmidt, Jack Dorsey, and Larry Gagosian. With over $9.5 billion dollars of inventory, Artsy is the world's largest platform for modern and contemporary art.
Tom may think Artsy is a tech monstrosity that reduces art to 1's and 0's, and Carter may think Tom is a paranoid narcissist who considers himself too good for the Internet–but they both agree with Warhol who said that "Making money is art, and good business is the best art."
Together they'll discuss: how to achieve business success without selling your soul, how to sell your soul (i.e. fundraising), management and leadership in creative organizations, and what the Internet means for the future of the art business.

About SXSW:
Started in 1987, South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place early each year in mid-March in Austin, Texas. SXSW’s original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today whether it is music, film or interactive technologies.
