Freddy Negrete was first exposed to tattooing in juvenile hall and other programs that housed troubled youth. In fact, it turns out that tattooing was the reason for Negrete's early release from a detention program after the adults saw his passion for the craft and interest in building machines. In those early days it was sharpened guitar strings and India ink or girl's mascara that Negrete used as tools of the trade. He still has the original marks he made on his hands. Today he sticks to the black and gray palette as he furthers his talent and skills at his home base, the Shamrock Social Club.
