Vail ice climbing attracts groups, seasoned climbers and first-time climbers to the mountains of Vail, Colorado for some of the most accessible, and exciting ice climbing in the Rocky Mountains.
These climbs, ranging in height from 30 to over 100 feet high, form on spectacular ice curtains and free-standing pillars high over the small community of East Vail, with expansive vistas above. Routes range from beginner to advanced, and offer several options, including:
A moderate introduction on lower angle beginner ice climbing routes, with a focus on the fundamentals of climbing, belaying and lowering.
Challenge yourself on intermediate ice climbing routes, with awareness placed on increasingly efficient body positions, technique and maximizing rests.
For the more advanced, experience a lead clinic where climbers simulate setting the rope while under the protection of a top-rope belay. An exhilarating way to experience “the sharp end”.
Or, share your idea of the perfect day; we’ll build your itinerary to suit, and share a love for the mountains.
